This
hands-on workshop focused on a series of practical experiments and
exercises that guide students toward a deep understanding of Newton’s
Second Law. Teachers carried out the experiments and exercises in
“student mode” and discussed them in “teacher mode.” They used Vernier
probes with low-friction carts and tracks. Other setups were made
available
for teachers who do not have tracks in their classrooms. Proven,
effective modeling instruction techniques, such as whiteboarding, were
an integral part of this workshop. While this was not a full, 3-week
"Modeling Workshop," it provided a basic introduction to and taste
of the modeling approach. Teachers received printed worksheets and
other materials at the workshop. |
